After getting a great response from the mid level hatchback segment with Tiago, Tata seems to be showing aggressive intent with its future line up for the domestic market. Seeing the potential growth, the brand is now reportedly working on the new premium hatchback codenamed as Tata X451 which is slated to launch on Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20.
More information about the concept will be revealed in the coming time while launch is still 1-2 years away. Based on new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP) which also underpins upcoming Nexon SUV, the hatch will be designed from the scratch unlike Bolt which was the re-tuned version of Indica. Besides the hatch, Tata is also considering the sedan version of X451 concept.
Apart from new design, the concept is expected to ensure rich and long list of features, standardization of safety measures and class leading cabin space. The renderings suggest that the new vehicle to posses sleek stance, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, company’s famed humanity grille, chrome accented fog lamps, LED tail lamps etc.
As it will be pitched in the premium hatch segment the cabin and materials to have upmarket feel. The dashboard will be inspired by Nexon SUV and might get multi layered design and in terms of features it might a stick out tablet like touchscreen system with navigation, soft touch materials, premium upholstery, automatic climate control, driver seat adjustability etc.
The sedan version X451 which takes on Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna will follow the same footsteps. Apart from new hatch and sedan, Tata is also considering 4 new cars 2 MPVs X601, X602 and two full size SUVs christened as Q501 and Q502. All these cars are expected to grace Indian shores between 2017 and 2020, if priced aggressively Tata is surely going to reach new heights in the Indian market.
