Specifications and features of Honda Accord

With Accord comfort meets Performance! The new Accord is available in 2 versions: Accord 3.5 V6 and Accord 2.5, while the former has a 24 valve SOHC i-VTEC engine, the latter has 16 valve DOHC i-VTEC engine. As the name suggests the Accord V6 has V shaped 6 cylinders which are fired during start-up, accelerating and moving uphill, during other times only 3 or 4 cylinders are used using the revolutionary concept of ‘Variable Cylinder management’ for flexible use of cylinders. The Accord 2.5 has casual 4 cylinder engine. The ACM or the Active engine mount system nullifies the vibration of the engine and the ANC or the active noise control nullifies the unwanted noise that may be produced because of the harmonics of the cylinder operation.

The maximum horsepower provided by the V6 version is 275@6200 ps@rpm and max torque 339@5000 Nm@rpm. For the Accord 2.5 the figures are 180@6500 ps@rpm and 222@4300 Nm@rpm. The transmission is automatic and manual (5 fwd and 1 reverse) for the Accord 2.5 whereas it is only automatic with 5 speed paddle shift and GLC for the Accord 3.5. In addition to the hydraulic power system the Variable Gear Ratio(VGR) steering system helps in reducing the turning radius of the car, the min radius is 5.6m.Coming to the brake system the front have the multilateral disc and rear have the solid disc forms better than Amaze, Brio and City. The dimensions of the car are 4950mm x 1845mm x 1475 mm with wheelbase of 2800 mm. The Japanese car maker also has increased the ground clearance to 155mm to give its sailors a smooth sail even on speed breakers. Fuel capacity is a whopping 70l highest in a Honda car (ie greater than Brio, Amaze, City) and rival Dzire.

Coming to the exteriors, the new Accord has a macho front grill and bumper. The bold front headlights are longer and sleeker giving a seductive look. The other features adding to the convenience are the electric sunroof, front and rear fog lamps, front sensor, crome handle, body coloured ORVMs with turn indicator, etc. With sharp engraved character lines on the sides the outer architecture is made as aerodynamic as possible.

Let’s step inside the car to actually start sailing through the journey by putting the wheels in motion. Judicious use of wood has been done on the instrumental panel and on the steering (only on Accord V6).The royal beige colour creates its own aura and might give you a feeling of being on the King’s throne. The sedan class car with space for 5 adults give comfortable seating at the rear just like front with A/C vents and music control buttons at the rear, reading light etc. showing the ingenuity of the engineers. Cruise control buttons on the steering gives you a relaxing journey on long drives without having to worry about the acceleration. The 8 way power adjustable driver seat lets you adjust it according to your height and comfort.

Finally we arrive at the safety section, with intelligent safety features like the 6 airbags providing a protective cover at the front and the sides you would only feel safer and safer! ABS and EBD improves braking performance and VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) ensures safety during under steer or over steer conditions. The Honda only G-CON feature reduces impact during an event of crash and also includes pedestrian safety.
