Skoda had updated Rapid sedan in India last year, besides the Czech auto maker launched Octavia black edition. Now, Skoda is planning to launch a special edition Rapid sedan called Rapid Monte Carlo. According to reports, the special edition is likely to be launched in India this festive season. The Monte Carlo is a standard model in many of the international markets while for India it will be available in limited numbers only.
In terms of changes, the special edition will come only in Red color paint scheme along with black highlights on front grille, boot spoiler, ORVMs, roof top and blacked out 16-inch alloy wheels.
The interior comes with dual tone color theme accompanied by several highlights such as flat bottom steering wheel with audio controls, faux carbon trim on dashboard, special floor mats, black upholstery with red stitching, aluminium scuff plate, aluminium sports pedal, mobile holder, gear know with contrast stitching.
Under the hood of Monte Carlo edition will be a two engines: 1.6l MPI petrol engine and 1.5l TDI diesel engine. The former makes 105bhp power and 250Nm of torque accompanied by a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The TDI engine makes 110bhp power and 250Nm of torque linked by a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
With all these additions, expect the price of Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo to be Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000 more than the standard Skoda Rapid. Besides Skoda will soon launch Skoda Kodiaq in India which will replace Skoda Yeti.
