Skoda is all pepped up to launch Octavia RS in India on 30th August 2017; the car was spotted at a Dealership in Mumbai. The Czech automaker has already started accepting bookings for the car earlier this month. It will Czech automaker’s first performance oriented version and vRS will be sold in India as Octavia RS. It is likely to be priced at Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will be assembled in Aurangabad facility as a CKD unit.
Revealed in December last year, Octavia RS is available in two engine options internationally: 2.0l TSI petrol and 2.0l TDI diesel engine. The former delivers a healthy 230bhp power and 350Nm of torque, linked to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2.0l Oil burner develops 184bhp power and 380Nm of torque. The engine is linked to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed DSG auto gearbox. For the Indian market, the 2.0l TSI petrol with DSG auto gearbox will be launched initially followed by manual and diesel options.
In terms of cosmetic changes, the car features wider radiator front grille with gloss black treatment, honeycomb air dam, LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, sports 19-inch alloy wheels, black ORVMs and LED tail lamps.
On the inside, it comes with touchscreen infotainment system with Android auto, Apple car play and Mirrorlink system. It will also feature drive assist, multi function steering wheel with Paddle shifters, electric seats with memory function, vRS logo headrests with red inserts, aluminium pedals, leather combo seats, ambient lighting to name a few.
For safety, Octavia RS comes with nine airbags, adaptive Cruise control, Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Trailer Assist, Blind Spot Detection and Dynamic Chassis Control.
