Nissan Micra was launched in March 2013 in India but despite of having great driving dynamics it has been a poor seller, even struggles to touch 1000 units a month. Having being launched long time back however it is now time for Micra to come with some new features in order to lure the buyers. Though, it might not be doing well in India but it has been company’s biggest model in terms of exports in 2014-15.

The company is rumored to be gearing to launch Micra’s base petrol (XL) variant with CVT dubbed as X-tronic. By introducing CVT to Micra, Nissan wants to attract the customers with ease offered by an automatic gearbox. Apart from CVT, Nissan will also bring some added features to all the variants such as:-

  • New Audio system
  • Reverse parking Sensors
  • New upholstery
  • Driver side airbag as standard across all variants
  • ABS

The new variant will continue to feature with 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol motor developing 76PS@6000rpm power and 104Nm of peak torque@4400rpm. The engine delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 19.3 KMPL.

The CVT equipped XL variant is expected to be priced at Rs. 5.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be launched in July/August period.
