Renault Kwid AMT teased ahead of its launch on 7th November

After showcasing Kwid 1.0l AMT at 2016 Auto Expo Renault has thrown its first teaser with tagline “Get Ready to Change the Way you drive”. The third derivative of Kwid will be officially launched on 7th November and bookings for Kwid Easy R-AMT have already begun for a token amount of Rs. 10,000 at any Renault dealership. Report suggest that deliveries to commence by end of this month.

The AMT Kwid will be offered in RXT and RXT (O) with an expected price of Rs. 4.29 lakh and Rs. 4.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. Its prices are approx Rs. 36,000 to Rs. 40,000 premium than the manual variants. When launched, it will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 AMT.

Badged as Easy R-AMT, it continues to extract power from a 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to deliver 68bhp@5500rpm power and 91Nm of torque@4250rpm and will be clubbed to a 5-speed easy shift AMT gearbox. With manual gearbox, Kwid 1.0 l delivers 23.01 Kmpl though we don’t expect any major changes in this department.

Kwid AMT will have dial located gear selector on central console with three modes-Neutral, drive and reverse. In addition, it also comes with crawl function that assists car move forward and reverse without any throttle input.

Since it is based on range topping trim, Kwid AMT will get a 7 inch MediaNAV touchscreen system with navigation, digital instrument cluster, front power widows, fabric upholstery with red stitching, remote central locking. The Auto Expo model had dual front airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) on board. The Kwid has been successful with more than 1.65 lakh bookings so far and waiting period of up to six months.
