After multiple teasers and speculations, Nissan India has started the pre-bookings for the new Terrano AMT in India at an initial deposit of Rs. 25,000. Deliveries of the new grade will commence later this month. The new variant will be based on top spec XVD premium grade and is priced between Rs. 13.75 lakh and Rs. 13.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The talking point is the 6-speed Easy R AMT gearbox, the same unit that also powers Renault Duster.
The Easy R AMT aka 6-speed advanced auto drive will be clubbed with a 1.5 DCi diesel engine that delivers 109bhp power along with 245Nm of peak torque; the engine is already available with a six speed manual gearbox. The fuel efficiency of Terrano AMT stands at 19.61 Kmpl (ARAI certified). For added safety, the AMT grade gets hill assist control and electronic stability program (ESP) along with other already available features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist.
Besides AMT, the new trim comes with 14 new features like electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn signals, anti-pinch driver side windows, new driver side central arm rest, soft touch plastics on door trim and dashboard. Nissan has also added a new paint color called Sandstone brown which will be available across the line up.
Some of the features like one touch turn indicators, white backlit illumination, automatic warning for emergency braking, new door trim design will now be standard across the entire trims. In terms of sales, Nissan Terrano stands at last position in its segment, the inclusion of AMT will certainly boost up the much needed sales graph.
