Mahindra has officially launched its bestselling SUV Scorpio with an automatic gearbox in two variants. The AT is available on top end S10 variant and has been priced at Rs. 13.13 lakh for 2WD while the 4WD costs at Rs. 14.33 lakh. That said the Mahindra Scorpio is now the only vehicle in its segment to offer six speed AT with 4WD as option.
The AT variants takes the power from same 2.2l Mhawk diesel engine that produces max power of 120bhp @4000rpm and 280Nm peak torque between 1800-2800rpm. However the company claims that the AT is build on a new platform with anti–roll technology and cushioned suspension for better driving dynamics.
Based on top Spec S10 variant, the AT trim is loaded with all the bells and whistles including automatic climate control to keep you cool without adjusting controls, new 6 inch touchscreen system with GPS, USB, AUX-in, CD/DVD support, adjustable driver’s seat, new 3D effect instrument cluster with multi utility display like trip meter, temperature, gear position.
It also comes with tyre tronic function which provides equal pressure to each tyre, blue-grey upholstery and rain/light sensors that automatically turns the headlamps on and off according to the light. Aesthetically, the AT variant remains same save for the ‘Automatic’ monikers, new 17 inch alloy wheels.
Being available on the top S10 variant you also get top notch safety features like Dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic brake force distribution (EBD), digital immobilizer, panic brake indication, anti-theft warning, speed alert which voice alert when cross a 140km mark barrier, auto door lock system while driving, crash projection body structure and collapsible steering column and side intrusion beams.
The Mahindra Scorpio is a very capable vehicle which is already doing very well and addition of automatic gearbox will certainly help Scorpio to garner more sale numbers.
