The Tata Storme facelift has been finally launched in India at Rs. 9.99 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The facelift version comes with minor cosmetic and mechanical changes; the automajor has added some new features. Tata dealers have started taking bookings for the booking amount of Rs. 30,000-50,000. Tata is also planning to launch two new SUVs in collaboration with Jaguar and Land Rover which will be launched by 2017. Tata Safari Strome will face the competition from Mahindra Scorpio, Renault duster and Nissan Terrano.

Price:

Tata Safari Strome facelift is available in three variants- LX, EX and VX; the base LX variant is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh while the VX 4×4 variant comes at Rs. 14.34 lakh. The price of EX and VX variants remains unchanged while the LX is less expensive than the phased out model.

All prices mentioned are Ex-showroom Delhi.

Engine details:

The Safari Storme facelift is powered by the same 2.2L VARICOR diesel engine but now churns out 10PS more power than the outgoing model. It is now capable of producing 148bhp power@4000rpm and 320Nm of peak torque between 1700-2700rpm. The facelift version continues to be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, available in 2WD and 4WD options.

Tata Safari Storme will get an automatic variant in near future which might get much higher torque than the manual variants. The new variant now delivers 14.1 KMPL ARAI certified mileage 0.1 more than the current model. The facelift also gets a new self adjusting clutch of 260mm diameter.

Space and Dimensions:

There is no alteration in this department; the SUV continues to come with the measurement of 4655mm in length, 1965mm width, 1922mm height and can easily seat seven people with the help of 2650mm of wheelbase. The 2015 variant gets 63 liters of fuel tank as compared to 55 liters of outgoing model while 200mm of ground clearance is sufficient enough to absorb the chunks and bumps of Indian roads. The new model misses out on third row jump seats.

Exterior and Interior:

The Tata Safari Strome facelift minor styling updates in the form of new Honeycomb grille inspired by Land Rover, revised front bumper with tweaked air dam. The side profile remains same while the rear side only gets thick chrome stripe with Tata engrave on it.

It is on the inside that you will find some significant changes like a new Harmon sourced six speakers infotainment system with bluetooth, I-Pod, Aux-in, Radio and USB. The cabin of 2015 Safari Strome is now based on all black theme with silver inserts, LX gets Sandstone beige interiors, new Bolt and Zest borrowed steering wheel.

The EX and VX variants get a seven seater configuration while LX is a five seater which is a disappointment. Apart from the new introductions, Safari Strome has illuminated glove box, puddle lamps on all four doors, three way lumbar support for front seats, 60:40 spilt for the 2nd row etc.

Colors:

The 2015 Tata Safari Strome is available in five colors– Urban Bronze, Astern Black, Pearl White, Arctic White and Arctic Silver. The Dark red color of the previous model has been discontinued.

Safety:

On safety front, only the top variant VX gets dual airbags for driver and front passengers, reverse parking sensors with display assistance on screen while EX or LX variants ABS 8.1 (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic braking distribution), clear lens front fog lamps, central locking with flip key, side impact bars, all disc brakes for VX and EX variants while LX gets Drum brakes.  

Tata is also offering new Safari Storme with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms and it can be extended up to 4 years or 150,000 kms, whichever is earlier.
