Mercedes Benz India seems to cash-in the upcoming festive season as much as possible because one after another they are launching their luxury cars with many more is scheduled to get launched. Mercedes launched E350 CDI luxury saloon with some cosmetic changes and interior add-ons. E350 CDI will compete with BMW 5 series, Jaguar XF and Audi A6; price will play a vital factor for Mercedes E350 CDI as features wise Mercedes has always provided the top Notch features.
Price:
Mercedes positioned price of its new entrant in E class the luxury saloon E350 CDI at Rs. 57.21 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) which is a bit steep. Its competitor Jaguar XF is at lower price than E350 approx Rs. 4 lakhs. Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series ranges equivalent to E350 CDI around 57 lakhs.
Engine Details:
Mercedes 350 CDI has arrived with one engine option which is Diesel; the V/6 2987cc engine develops 262BHP power @3800rpm and 620nm torque @1600-2400rpm. On paper E350 CDI has upper hand in terms of power from BMW 5 series and Audi A6, on the other hand Jaguar XF beats E350 in power but falls behind when it comes to Torque.
E350 CDI reach 0-100 km/h in mere 6.6 seconds with the top speed of 250 km/hr. turning radius of E350 CDI is 10.6m.
Space & Dimensions:
Mercedes E350 CDI tallest of the lot with 1474mm, but it is least them of all in terms of width and length. Mercedes E350 CDI measures 4879mm in height which is 82mm less than Jaguar XF, 28mm less than BMW 5 Series and 36mm less than Audi A6.
E350 CDI is 1854mm wide which is also less than its competitors, 248mm less than BMW 5 series the widest car among four, 232mm less than Audi A6 and 23mm less than Jaguar XF.
E350 offers 2874mm Wheelbase is again on the lower side among all. BMW 5 series has the highest of the lot with 2968mm. E350 CDI offers boot capacity of 540 liters and seating capacity for 5 persons.
Interiors and Exteriors:
Interiors and comfort features of Mercedes E350 CDI are classy as expected from it; Dashboard is furnished with glossy ash wood color, leather finish on steering wheel and at some part of its cabin, 17.8cm TFT high resolution touch screen display screen with DVD, USB, SD card, 6 CD changer, navigation, Harmon Kardon surround system with 14 speakers and 10 GB storage. Carzoom Take:
Mercedes E350 gets good additional features, nice color options and long list of safety features it is certainly a good car. Ride and handling is also excellent but main concern is its price which either equivalent to its competitors or higher than them but to have an upper edge over its competitors Mercedes would have placed its price a bit lower.
