Mahindra and Mahindra, the homegrown auto major has launched the facelift avatar of its flagship SUV, XUV500 in India at an introductory price of Rs. 11.21 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Age XUV500 comes with number of design upgrades, added equipment and a new W10 variant. After four years of successful survival, one of the bestselling SUV received its first major update and gets a total of 31 new features and changes on new XUV500. Let’s have a look at what Mahindra has to offer with facelift XUV500.

Price:

Mahindra has launched 2015 XUV500 in four trims- W4, W6, W8 and new top of the line W10 variant, the base prices of XUV500 almost remains same as compared to outgoing model, i.e. at Rs. 11.21 lakh for the W4 variant. The new introduced W10 top variant is priced at Rs. 14.99 lakh for the FWD drive version and 15.99 lakh for the AWD.

Engine Details:

The powerplant remains same and power continues to come from the same 2.2L mhawk diesel engine that generates the output of 140bhp@3750rpm and 330Nm of peak torque@1600-2800rpm and comes with 6-speed manual transmission and 2WD and 4WD like before. Mahindra has added brake re-generation to tweak the fuel efficiency and claiming that the car will now return 16 KMPL of mileage as compared to 15.1 KMPL. Mahindra says that they have improved the drive train ratios to improve the drivability and ride quality of 2015 XUV500.

Space and Dimensions:

The Mahindra XUV500 is a full fledge SUV with the seating capacity of eight persons and 4585mm in length, 1890mm of width, 1785mm height. The wheelbase of 2700mm offers more than sufficient amount of space in the SUV and 200mm of ground clearance is enough to tackle the potholes of Indian roads. The boot space with third row up is merely 93 liters but it can be further extended to 703 liters with third row folded.

Exterior and Interior:

The flagship SUV is offered with restyled exteriors such as new grille with chrome accents similar to new GEN Scorpio; new static bending projector headlamps with black treatment and S shaped LED DRLs, new design for the bonnet. The front bumper carries the same design but now gets highly positioned L-shaped chrome lined fog lamps replacing the circular units. Side profile also gets some retreatment with new 10 spoke alloy wheels; new door handles and chrome treatment around the windows lining which gives the car premium touch.

Rear gets a slightly tweaked tail gate and large registration plate with chrome finished appliqué above it.

There is no dearth of features in cabin as well with premium black beige dashboard, driver instrumental display get cool blue illumination, push start button, seven inch infotainment system with GPS navigation and parking assistance. The new W10 variant gets voice messaging system (VMS), aluminum scuff plates at door sills, 6-way electrically adjusted driver’s seat, electric sunroof, logo puddle lamps.

The things have been spruced up with features like Mahindra’s Blue sense app, temperature control with HVAC, steering mounted controls, aluminum brushed pedals, new upholstery, mobile charging points, glove box with laptop holder and many more features.

Colors:

The 2015 XUV500 is available in two new colors- Sunset Orange and Pearl White in addition to five existing colors which are-Dolphin Grey, Tuscan Red, Moon dust Silver, Opulent Purple and Volcano Black. Dolphin Grey and Moon dust Silver are probably the most sold ones in Indian market.

Safety:

As for the safety, it comes with six airbags dual airbags for front passenger and driver, side and curtain airbags, hill hold control, hill descent control, ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake distribution) and disc brakes on all wheels.

The 2015 XUV500 also features reverse parking camera with guideline sensors, crumple zone for crash protection, side impact beams, (ESP) Electronic stability program with rollover migration and cruise control.
