This new car from the South Korean carmaker, Hyundai, was launched yesterday (3rd September 2013) in India with a starting price of Rs. 4.30 lakh and goes upto Rs. 6.42 lakh (ex showroom Delhi). Hyundai i10 Grand has the 2nd generation U2 diesel engine. It’s sporty, spacious and full of exciting features. Let’s have a closer look at the specifications and features:

Specifications:

The dimensions of this hatchback are 3765mm x 1660mm x1520 mm with a wheelbase of 2425mm. This hatchback’s got the most affordable and advanced 2nd gen CRDi diesel engine in the form of 1.1 l U2 engine & 5 speed manual transmission which promises better fuel efficiency, low emission and lower NVH levels. The max power is 70.7 Ps @4000 rpm, max torque is 16.3 kgm/1500-2500 rpm and max mileage of 24 kpl. The car is also available in the petrol version with its 1.2 Kappa dual VTVT engine, 5 speed manual transmission offering max power of 82.94 Ps @6000 rpm and max torque of 11.6 kgm@4000rpm. The ARAI mileage for petrol version is 18.9 kpl. The top speed achievable in petrol version is 166kphr. There’s a gear shift indicator to help maximize mileage.

Exteriors:

The car is like a fluffy i10 with some extra spoilers aboard, giving sporty look and safety to the car. There is a single front grill in the shape of a bucket bifurcated by the black plastic bar holding the number plate. On the either side of it lie the fog lamps residing nicely inside the quadrilateral. The bonnet is simple with a single chrome line at the end of it and in between the bold ‘swept-back’ headlamps, holding the brand logo in centre. The roof has roof railings lines, the sides have nice body coloured ORVMs with LED turn indicators on them, chrome door handles which aren’t body coloured and a bend at the bottom with waistline molding highlighting the curve. The 14” wheels are alloy built with 8 spokes ornamenting it. The rear also has a spoiler at the top, at the beginning of the hatch, rear washer and wiper.

Interiors:

The interiors are decorated with the dual colour (beige and black) textured upholstery (with headrests on the seats) and in the plastic used inside the car like around the gearbox, at the side pockets and dashboard. The car has a descent air conditioner with rear a/c vents as well, now things are cooler at the rear as well! The car also offers glovebox and other various pockets to hold/keep your things safely. The car is spacious with ample bootspace and ample leg room even at the rear seat. Coming to the convenience section: smart key start/stop push button, internally adjustable ORVMs, audio controls mounted on the steering etc. The entertainment section includes the 2-Din integrated audio system with Bluetooth to let you groove in the world of music. A unique ‘luggage lamp’ is there, providing sufficient light while loading/offloading luggage during night.

Safety:

The car has a reinforced structure with dual airbags, reverse parking assist feature with buzzer, rear defogger, and ofcourse the ABS technology to give you the safety you need while inside the car.
