Finally the day has arrived when Fiat launches its much talked car Fiat Punto Evo on 5th August 2014. With its refreshed look it is ready to rock the roads, changed from outside with beautiful all new external makeover. With comparison to cars like i20, Polo, Punto Evo looks little better upfront, As far as performance is concerned, whether it makes the Hatchback segment tougher or it proves to be just another car, let’s find out in Details-
Price:
Punto Evo starts with an affordable bracket of 4.55 lakhs, 5.12 lakhs, and 6.65 lakhs for the Petrol trims i.e. Evo active, Evo dynamic and Evo emotion respectively.
On the other hand, Diesel Segment Punto Starts 5.27 lakhs, 6.21 lakhs and 6.83 lakhs respectively for Evo active, Evo dynamic and Evo emotion.
Punto Evo Sports version arrives with powerful diesel engine at 7.19 lakhs respectively. Attractive price range is centre of attraction of it.
Engine Details:
Punto Evo will be available in three Variants i.e. Evo active, Evo emotion and Evo dynamic in petrol and diesel segment, apart from this it’s sports variant will only be available in diesel segment as Punto Evo 90-HP.
The engine specifications of Petrol trim are 1.2L F.I.R.E (fully integrated robotized engine) with max Power of 67BHP and Max Torque of 96nm, while 1.4L F.I.R.E petrol engine offers Max power of 88BHP and 115nm which is slightly less than the other cars of the segment, Polo and i20.
On the contrary, Diesel trim comes with 1.3 Multijet and 1.3 Multijet 93PS with Max power and Max torque of 75BHP, 197nm and 92BHP with 209nm respectively which is better than swift and i20 but falls behind the German shepherd Polo.
The engine is geared with 5 speed manual Transmission.
Fuel efficiency as per company for 1.2L and 1.4L Petrol trims are 15.8 KMPL and 14.4 KMPL each which is lower than what others are offering. As Diesel engine’s fuel efficiency is concern for 1.3L 21.2KMPL and for 1.3L 90-HP is 20.5KMPL which is better than the competitors in market except from Swift which has better mileage (23.4) than Punto Evo.
Space and Dimensions:
The Stunning Punto Evo is 3989mm in Length longest of the lot, 1687mm wide and 1525mm in height. Punto Evo has wheelbase of 2510mm which is nearly 45mm less than i20 and 110mm more than swift and Boot capacity of 280 LTR, i20 with the highest 295mm.
Punto Evo offers ground clearance for Diesel 185mm which is good, and 195mm for Petrol which is quite impressive and excellent for the bumpy Indian roads. It has seating capacity of 5 persons and has sufficient leg space for front as well as rear seats.
Interior:
You may find resemblance of 2014 Linea when you look at the interiors of Punto Evo. It has modern dashboard with soft plastic and piano black finish at center which gives the car the luxurious feel, updated Sound system, Steer mooted audio control. At rear, you will find an A/C vent to keep you cool. It also has other features like SMS read-out, seat belts with buzzer, Fully Tilted power steering and Comfortable seats. Spacey and good interiors under this price range give it a little extra edge over its competitor cars.
Exterior:
The Eye soothing looks is the main attraction of Punto Evo like its new position of Punto logo on the bonnet and new grill with chrome element on it which makes the car Centre of attraction, bigger and trendier 16” alloy wheels gives the car more striking look.
Larger and more angular headlamps which look sharp, Tail lamps with shiny led strips, rear bumpers with rear fog lamps, Fog lamps under this price range? Well, this is a good stuff from Fiat. ORVM with turn indicators and body colored bumpers puts icing on the cake to its looks.
Colors:
The Punto Evo comes with seven grand colors Glitterati Gold, Vocal white, Exotica red, Minimal grey, hip hop Black, Tuscan Wine and Magnesio Grey. It provides customers so many options to choose from and these are designed to target the youth with colors like Vocal white & exotica red. This might prove to be a trump card that fiat needs to increase its sales.
Safety:
As per safety is concerned, it is equipped with many of them like Fire prevention system (FPS), ABS (Anti-lock brake system) +EBD (electronic brake system) “except in base model”, Dual front airbags with passenger air-deactivation, Central lock system and 3 pointer seat belts.
Door open indicator, Immobilizer and early crash sensors which is the new introduction in this segment which makes it a more reliable and safe car and scores a good score on safety meter. Though these entire features may not be available in base model but when we look at its rival cars it scores well above over them in terms of its safety features.
