Chevrolet in order to utilize the festive season has come up with two cars i.e. Sail Sedan and Sail hatchback with no mechanical changes but interiors have been revamped. Sail Sedan gets some changes and new introductions like 2 DIN audio system replacing 1 Din system and many more introductions. Past record of Sail has been in terms of sale is not as per expectations we can say it is underrated car. With some attractive changes can Sail be able to threaten its competitors let’s see what new Sail Contains.
Price:
Chevrolet launched facelift version of Sail sedan at the starting price of Rs. 5.19 lakh which goes up to Rs. 7.64 lakhs, all the prices are Ex-showroom Delhi.
Engine Details:
Chevrolet didn’t make any mechanical changes in both Diesel and Petrol engines, Sail facelift arrived in four diesel and four Petrol variants.
1.3L SMARTECH Diesel engine which produces 74BHP power@4000rpm and 190nm torque@1750rpm. All the variants of Diesel are mated to 5 speed manual transmission. The 1248CC returns efficient mileage of 22.1 KPL which is very competitive in the segment. It sprints 0-100km in 11.9 sec with the top speed of 150-155 km/h.
1.2L SMARTECH Petrol engine emits 82.5BHP power@6000 rpm and 108.5nm of peak torque@5000rpm, Petrol engine is equipped with 5 Speed manual transmission, Sail sedan has turning radius of 5.15m. It accelerates 0-100 km in 12.9 sec with the top speed of 145-150 km/h.
Space & Dimensions:
Overall measurement of Sail sedan is 4249 length, 1690mm wide and 1503 height. It has wheelbase of 2465mm and ground clearance of petrol mill is 174mm and 168mm for Diesel car.
Boot storage of Sail Sedan stands at 370 liters and it offers seating capacity for 5 persons. The headroom and Shoulder space is more than sufficient.
Interiors & Exteriors:
Main change has been brought in the cabin with Dual tone black beige scheme which results in fresh appeal, steering wheel is being decorated with gold plated company’s logo; centre console gets 2 DIN audio system which is glamorized with black-blue lights, audio system supports bluetooth connectivity, 5 phone pairing and hands free system.
The door handles and gear knob gets a silver touch and A/C vents, central knob gets chromic touch. The instrument panel has multi function display like drive seat belt reminder warning, door ajar warning, digital clock, multi-trip meter and average fuel consumption. You will find lots of storage space in the spacious sedan like at front door map pockets, big glove box compartment etc.
Exterior also got the modest touch like chrome surrounded fog lights and same has been done for headlights. Front gets conventional logo of the company right at the centre of the chrome finished grille. Windscreen has been retouched with laminated windscreen glass.
Side of the Sail Sedan has 12 spoke alloy wheels but only for high variants, other gets Chevrolet conventional steering wheels. LS and LT variants gets electrically adjusted ORVM’s and rear side is also furnished with chromic touch and Chevrolet logo with third brake light which is at centre.
Colors:
Chevrolet is offering Sail sedan in six elegant colors– Velvet Red, Switchblade Silver, Summit white, Linen Beige, Caviar Black and Sandrift Grey.
Safety:
Sail Sedan Consists Safety Features like Dual airbags for Driver and front co passenger, seat belt with pretensioners, force limiters, dual horn, speed sensitive auto lock, child lock at rear doors, door ajar warning lamp, key in reminder alerts, engine immobilizer with unauthorized detection system, central door locking, speed sensing auto door locks, remote keyless entry and ABS+EBD.
Verdict:
Sail Sedan offers good Diesel mileage and Price is very affordable in comparison to other cars of the segment. Interior and safety introductions are quite commendable, space is not a problem in Sail sedan but competition is quite tuff in the segment as the rivals has much more to offer. But if you want a good looking and pocket friendly car ‘Sail’ is not a bad option.
