Chevrolet has released the Sail hatchback on 24th September 2014 which is new version of 2006 Sail U-VA; company has removed the U-VA tag from the Sail and named it as a ‘Sail Hatchback’. There are no changes in engines of the Sail hatchback, only interiors and safety went through some changes. It will compete against the likes of Grand i10, Swift and Ford Figo which all are fierce competitors and share large market share. What’s so new about Sail Hatchback? Let’s take a look.

Price of Sail Hatchback new name Sail Hatchback is fairly priced at Rs. 4.41 lakhs for the base variant and Rs.6.81 lakh for the Top variant, all the prices are Ex-Showroom Delhi.
Engine Details:
Sail hatchback like Sail Sedan carries the same mechanical specifications, Sail hatchback also arrived in four Petrol and four Diesel variants.
1.2L 1199 cc SMARTECH Petrol engine develops 82.5BHP power@6000 rpm and 108.5nm torque@5000rpm, Petrol engine is mated with 5 Speed manual transmission, Sail hatchback carries turning radius of 5.15m. It sprints 0-100 km in 14sec with the top speed of 145 km/h. Fuel of Petrol engine is at 18.2 KPL.
1.3L 1248 cc SMARTECH Diesel engine which generates 74BHP power@4000rpm and 190nm torque@1750rpm. Diesel engine of Sail hatchback is equipped to 5 speed manual transmission, which returns efficient mileage of 22.1 KPL. It accelerates 0-100km in 16 sec with the top speed of 155 km/h.
Space & Dimensions:
Sail Hatchback measures 3946mm in length, 1690 Wide and 1503 in height. It carries same wheelbase of Sail sedan which is 2465mm.
Sail hatchback comforts seating capacity of 5 persons and In terms of ground clearance, Diesel box offers 168mm while Petrol box offers 174mm same like Sail Sedan. Boot capacity of Sail hatchback is at 248 liters.
Interiors & Exteriors:
Most noticeable changes are done in the Cabin like Two tone black beige scheme which looks refreshing, steering wheel is differently designed but it carries same gold plated company’s logo; Sail Hatchback now has 2 DIN music system which is decorated with black-blue lights which supports USB, AUX- IN, CD, DVD, bluetooth connectivity, 5 phone pairing feature with automatic reconnection facility.
Central console gets 12V socket, interior lamps and drive sun visor. Position of Door handles are unique which gets a silver midst touch along with the gear knob. A/C vents and central knob gets chromic touch. Instrument panel comprises MFD (multi function display) like digital clock, drive seat belt reminder warning, door ajar warning, low fuel warning and average fuel consumption. From storage space point of view you get front door map pockets, big glove box compartment etc as storage space.
On the Outside it gets more aggressive look with dual radiator grille with chrome surround and gold plated company’s logo, dazzling fog lights. Sail hatchback carries halogen head lamps. Windscreen has been retouched with laminated glass for more protection.
Sail Hatchback has blazing alloy wheels and body colored ORVM’s and door handles and black B pillars. Rear side gets new taillights with typical brake lights and stop lamps.

Price of Sail hatchback is the biggest plus point of it, mileage of Petrol engine is very efficient. New features add ups to the looks of Sail hatchback; maintenance cost is very low which is quite good. Can it Deliver for the Chevrolet and help them covering some market share? That time will tell.
