BMW has silently rolled out the facelift version of its 1-series model in India and it will replace the ageing and slow selling current variant of the car. Priced at Rs. 29.9 lakhs (ex-showroom Thane), the facelift version will be available in single variant only as 118d along with a single engine option. The entry level variant for BMW now comes with an array of cosmetic changes and some interior add-ons to up the luxury quotient of the vehicle.

Price:

The entry level model for the BMW is now available for Rs. 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in a single 118d sport line variant.     

Engine details:

The facelift version gets the same but with more power 2.0l four cylinder diesel engine, delivering 148bhp@4000rpm power and 320Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400rpm. The engine is matched to an eight speed ZF automatic gearbox transferring power to rear wheels. The new BMW 1-series can make 0-100 sprint in 8.1 seconds with the top speed of 212 km/hr.

Space and Dimensions:

The five door BMW 1-series facelift is now bigger than the previous version and measures 4329mm in length, 1765mm in width and 1440mm in height. With 2690mm of wheelbase, the occupants get optimum amount of space inside which is well complimented by comfortable seats.

Exterior and Interior:

As earlier said the facelift has grown in size and looks wider and muscular than before. As for the cosmetic changes, it gets new Bi-xenon headlamps with adaptive LED daytime running lights and gloss black ingredients. More noticeable changes on the facelift model are bigger kidney front grille, reworked front bumper. The side profile now looks more proportionate while rear side features bigger L-shaped LED taillights, sportier bumper and twin exhaust pipes to add more aggressiveness to the design of the car.

The cabin of the facelift version receives a 6.4” updated iDrive infotainment system with direct menu control buttons, bluetooth handsfree, USB connectivity, MP3 decoder and rear park distance control support. The other gizmos include updated upholstery, single automatic climate control as standard and optional dual zone, central with Piano black treatment, chrome accents on AC vents and Silver touch on the door pads.         

Colors:

The facelift comes with only two exterior shades options-Alpine White and Crimson red as compared to nine on the previous model.

Safety:

Apart from refined exterior design and luxurious features, BMW 1-series facelift comes loaded with some cutting edge safety features like six airbags which includes two airbags for front passengers, head airbags for rear and side airbags for the front occupants. In addition, it features runflat tyres with reinforced side walls so the tyres don’t lose grip even if air pressure drops, Dynamic stability control along with cornering braking control, hill start and braking assistant, braking readiness and brake dying pre-recognizes the risk of skidding of the vehicle and stabilize it.

The approach control warning with city braking function supports driver in preventing the rear side collisions by pre-conditioning the brakes at an active speeds of 60km/hr. Other safety aspects on 1 series facelift includes electric vehicle immobilizer, crash sensor and side impact protection.
