The German luxury car maker, Audi has launched RS6 Avant station Wagon in India at Rs. 1.35 crore. The head of Audi India Mr. Joe King and Ace Indian Cricketer, Virat Kohli were also present on the occasion. Virat Kohli has been associated with Audi for a while now and has number of cars including R8 V10, Q7 and R8 LMX limited edition. The Audi RS6 Avant is the fourth Sportscar by Audi India in 2015 after R8 LMX, TT coupe and RS 7 Sportback.
The RS6 Avant is a performance oriented version of A6 and one of its kind vehicles that the country has ever witnessed. The Audi RS6 Avant will serve in niche segment in the country and will be sold as a CBU (completely build-up unit).
Price:
The Audi RS6 Avant is available in single variant which is priced at Rs. 1.35 crore (ex-showroom Delhi and Mumbai) and it is available at all Audi dealerships across the country now.
Engine Details:
Audi RS6 Avant may be a station wagon but that doesn’t mean it’s a slow car as most of us think about the wagon cars. The performance oriented RS6 Avant is powered by a 4.0L turbocharged V8 petrol engine which is capable of producing 560bhp power@5700-6600rpm and 700Nm of peak torque between 1750-5500rpm.
The RS6 Avant takes 3.9 seconds to make 0-100 km sprint with the limited top speed of 305 Km/hr (optional dynamic package plus). The Performance Wagon comes with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission which sends power to all wheels via Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system. The RS6 Avant also features cylinder on demand (COD) technology which automatically shuts down the cylinders when in traffic to maximize the fuel efficiency. The car also sports Audi drive select which helps in customizing the suspension via MMI among the four modes- Auto, comfort, Dynamic and Individual.
Space and Dimensions:
Audi RS6 Avant can accommodate five passengers with generous amount of legroom and shoulder space. The car is 4979mm long, 2086mm wide, 1461mm tall and has 2915mm of wheelbase. The RS6 Avant has a massive boot capacity of 565 liters which can be expanded up to 1680 liters with rear seats fully folded.
Exterior and Interior:
Speaking of Design, the Audi RS6 Avant gets a single frame grille that flaunts RS badge, sleek T-shaped matrix headlights with Daytime running lights and sporty air intakes. Side profile gives RS6 a Suvish look with downward slope roofline at the back which is well complimented by sporty 20 inch alloy wheels (upgradable to 21 inch). At the rear, the sexy looking wagon gets revised Tail light cluster with dynamic turn indicators and dual tail exhausts with chrome finish.
The cabin of Audi RS6 Avant has all black interiors with honeycomb pattern in grey and red accents which look sporty, RS sporty seats with integrated head restraints that come with memory and adjustability functions, a three spoke flat bottom multi-functioned steering wheel with paddle shifters.
Audi RS Avant has a 7 inch pop up infotainment MMI screen with MMI touch, 3D map display, voice control system, Radio plus, flash memory for music up to 10 GB, USB, Aux-in, 2 SD card readers and bluetooth hands free function. The car also comes with various other equipments such as panoramic sunroof, heated seats with various adjustability functions and extendable thigh support, start stop function, keyless go function, 40:60 rear seat spilt, ambient lighting, door sill with illuminated RS logo and active door reflectors.
Colors:
The Audi RS6 Avant is available in nine standard colors– Glacier white, Daytona Grey, Prisma Silver, Nardo Grey, Floret Silver, Misano Red, Panther Black, Mythos black and Sepang Blue. There is one Matt color finish option is also available in RS6 Avant and in addition one can opt for various customization options with Audi Exclusive.
Safety:
In the safety Department, Audi RS6 Avant gets six airbags including one for driver and front passengers, side and head airbags, adaptive cruise control at speeds from 30 to 250 km/hr, ESC (electronic stability control), reversing camera with MMI display assistance, 360 degree cameras at front and rear sides, active lane assist.
Audi is also offering RS adaptive air suspension which automatically regulates vehicle height and lowers the body by 20mm with the help of electronically controlled air suspension. The vehicle has RS sport suspension plus with dynamic ride control and pre-sense plus with brake assist.
The launch of RS6 Avant is a brave move by German luxury car maker which might force other luxury car manufactures like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar to bring their respective vehicles in India.
