The new Suzuki Vitara has received 5-star rating in the latest rounds of safety test conducted EURO NCAP. New Suzuki Vitara scored high in all four areas of assessment and surpassed the minimum percentage required to achieve five stars.
Area of assessment | Percentage scored | Percentage required to pass the test |
Adult Occupant | 89% | 80% |
Child occupant | 85% | 75% |
Pedestrian | 76% | 65% |
Safety Assist | 75% | 70% |
The main reason behind such great result might be extensive use of high tensile steel and engineering technology, apart from that it was admired for its autonomous braking system. Other cars like Mazda 2 and Fiat X were able to achieve only four stars in the crash tests.
New Vitara is loaded with various safety features which play a vital role in providing optimum safety to car as well its occupants. It gets seven airbags including knee airbag for driver, seat belt pre-tensioners, force limiters, head restraints, effective control technology which protects occupants from impact and many more.
The new Vitara went on sale in UK last month at £13,999 (approx 13.24 lakh) for the base petrol variant. Suzuki sold Vitara as Maruti Grand Vitara in India but company has not confirmed that whether they will launch this model in India or not. However, Company will launch S-Cross Crossover as Across in India in the May/June 2015 while the compact SUV would be introduced by festive season which is expected to be named as Vitara Brezza in India.
