The much awaited Skoda Octavia RS is all set to launch in India tomorrow i.e. 1st September 2017. The launch was scheduled for 30th August but heavy rains in Mumbai forced Skoda to postpone its launch until September, 1st. Based on Octavia RS 245, the car made its global debut at 2017 Geneva Motor show. Touted to be as the most powerful Skoda ever, the car has already started reaching some dealerships.
The Skoda Octavia RS will be powered by a 2.0 l TSI petrol motor which churns out 230bhp power and 350Nm of torque. The 2.0l TDI diesel engine develops 184bhp power and 380Nm of torque. Both engines are linked to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. It can sprint 0-100 km/hr in just 6.7 seconds with the top speed 250km/hr. It will come with the revised suspension set up.
In terms of design, Octavia RS sports large honeycomb structure air intakes, revised bumper, four- Split LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, Fog lamps and wider radiator front grille. On the inside, RS gets 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink, black interior, leather upholstery, multifunction steering wheel, RS sports seats. Aluminium pedals and more.
The safety is taken care by nine airbags, park assist system with reverse camera and sensor, ESP, Pedestrian protection, dynamic chassis control and much more. It is likely to be priced at Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will be assembled in Aurangabad facility as a CKD unit. Once launched, it will take on Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi A3 in India.
