British iconic small car company MINI launched 3-door and 5-door variants in November 2014 with a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 114bhp power@4000rpm and 270Nm torque@1750rpm.
MINI is now gearing for the petrol avatar of 3-door Cooper S by the end of next month. This variant will be a 3-door variant and will be priced around Rs. 33 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
Cooper S will be more powerful than the variants launched in 2014; Cooper S is powered by a 2.0L 4-cyl petrol engine that delivers 189bhp power@4700-6000rpm and 280Nm torque@1250rpm.
In international markets engine is available with a six speed manual or six speed automatic but for India this engine will be coupled to a six speed automatic gearbox and this engine can sprint 0-100 km in just 6.7 seconds with the top speed of 233 km/hr.
Mini cooper S will be continue to be brought via CBU route as the company has no plans to commence CKD operations of 3-door or 5-door variant. So expect price of Cooper S to be higher than Cooper D which starts at Rs. 32.64 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Apart from launching new Cooper S in India, Mini is also planning an enthusiast event for current owners of MINI series in India. Since its arrival in India in 2012 MINI has sold over 1000 units of Cooper series.
Recently MINI introduced a sport package for 3door and 5 door variants which costs at Rs. 2.65 lakhs and includes many mouth watering features like automatic headlight activation, rain sensor, 17” alloy wheels in black and silver shades, bonnet strips, interior ambient lighting and many more features.
