After a gap of two years, Maybach moniker is making its comeback into Indian market in the form of Maybach S500 and S600 that has been introduced at the price of Rs. 1.67 crore and Rs. 2.6 crores (both ex-showroom, Pune) respectively. The S500 possess affordable price owing to its local assembly in the country whereas S600 comes to India via CBU route. The new Maybach is the 12th model out of 15 scheduled to be launched in 2015 by Mercedes.
Under the hood of luxury sedan S500 is 4663cc V8 petrol engine offering peak power at 453bhp@5250-5500rpm and 700Nm of torque@1800-3500rpm whereas S600 gets 5980cc V12 engine capable of delivering 523bhp power@4900-5300rpm and 830Nm of massive torque@1900-4000rpm. Transmission options on both the cars include a 7G Tronic Plus automatic transmission.
Both the ultra luxury sedan can hit 100km from a standstill in just 5.0 seconds with the top speed of 250km/hr.
The Maybach S500 and S600 are 206 mm longer than a regular S-Class model and stands at 5453mm in length, 1899mm in width and 1498mm of height. Both come with a humongous wheelbase of 3365mm to ensure best in class comforts for the occupants inside while 500 liters of colossal boot space just adds to spacious cabin measurement of the vehicles.
Mercedes has claimed to offer the new Maybach with the world’s quietest rear passenger space in the world as the car maker has paid attention to reduce the NVH (Noise, vibration and Harness) levels of the luxury sedan.
Visually, the Maybach is quite similar to standard S-class model but is almost 8 inch longer than the latter. The new Maybach adorns Maybach logo on C pillar, exclusive wheel design, windows, glass and B pillars with chrome surround to up the luxury quotient the car.
So what makes Maybach worth such an outrageous price tag?
The lavishness continues its dominance inside as well along with best of luxury. The cabin of S600 Maybach is embellished with premium quality hand stitched Nappa leather along with Silver plated handcrafted champagne goblets. It has an individual executive premium rear seats which can be reclined over 43 degrees along with oodles of gadgetry like sunroof with Magic Sky Control, fold out tables and a 1540-watt Burmester 3D surround sound system with 24 speakers.
The luxury sedan also comes with long tail of features like internal heating and cooling function, HUD unit, heated windshield, ambient lighting, massage function and cabin vaporizer, twin 10 inch display screens at rear and many more. The sedan also boast exclusive trim package as standard which include analogue clock with IWC, Nappa leather upholstery and handcrafted wood trim.
Along with luxury, the sedan also boasts of a tone in safety 12 airbags including front, side, curtain, thorax, seat cushion airbags and seatbelt airbags for rear passengers. Along with other safety aids like Active Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive High-Beam Assist Plus, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Braking including ESP, brake assist and Pedestrian Recognition and night view assist plus.
Mercedes-Benz also announced that Roland Folger has replaced as the new CEO and MD for Mercedes Benz India from Mr. Eberhard Kern.
