Mercedes-Benz has launched the highly exclusive armored version of its luxury flagship- S class christened as S600 Guard at a Stupefying price of Rs. 8.9 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from being the armored vehicle it’s the most expensive Mercedes ever in India. The S600 guard provides the highest level of VR-9 level ballistics protection to the passengers and joins other two guard vehicles- M guard and E guard in India.
Mercedes-Benz S600 guard is a made to order car and targeted at VVIPs or privileged people such as politicians, Celebrities, businessmen or for those who are disliked by certain sections, it could be a small local gang or well renowned terrorists. The S600 guard is capable of protecting its occupants as it uses various protective components made of special thick steel and various unmatched features.
The Mercedes-Benz S600 guard is certified with highest ballistics protection class called VR-9 which offers protection against explosions and firearms etc. To protect from IED explosions or landmine attack Mercedes has provide underbody thick cladding which will keep the damage to minimum level. The car can survive 7.62×51mm rifle rounds on multiple areas of the body from various angles.
The doors and windows are several millimeters thick made of polycarbonate coated glass and windows need a hydraulic lift to open and close. It also has oxygen system which seals all exterior vents and provides clean air in case of a gas attack. The S600 guard also gets airmatic suspension which has been tuned up with stiffer; strengthen dampers and all new braking system.
The Mercedes-Benz S600 guard weighs around 4.6 tones which forced company to fit larger steel brakes with six piston calipers to deliver great ride quality. Mercedes S600 guard has run flat tyres that allow the car to drive for up to 28 KM even with zero pressure.
Powering this super heavy luxurious armored vehicle is a 6.0L V12 engine that makes massive output of 528bhp power and 830Nm of peak torque, paired to a 7G Tronic automatic gearbox with an electronically limited speed of 210 km/hr.
On the inside you will get all the features and goodies of regular S-class with an option of four or five seat layout. Some of the features of S600 guard are executive seat at rear with energizing massage function and leg rest, chauffer package; warmouth comfort package, 360 degree camera, LED intelligent plus system, air filtering, rear suite with a continuous Business console transforms the rear into a mobile office with two individual seats, fire extinguisher system with automatic activation and LED lighting inside the cabin.
Mercedes-Benz will offer two day training in Germany to two drivers and the cost has been included in the price of the car.
