India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India and probably the most achievement prone car maker has recently announced its second plant at Manesar, Haryana has crossed 25 lakh (2.5 million) production milestone this month with the roll out of glistering Swift Zxi as 2.5th millionth Vehicle from the Manesar B plant.
Maruti Suzuki India’s Executive Director (plants) Mr. Rajiv Gandhi said, “The Manesar facility achieved the 25 lakh production milestone in 7 years and 8 months. The Manesar plant manufactures some of the top selling models of the country like Swift, Dzire and Now the Celerio. This milestone would be the fastest for any car manufacturing plant in the country”.
Maruti’s Manesar plant is spread over 600 acres having A, B and C Manesar facility housing units with the total annual capacity of 8,00,00 Vehicles. Manesar’s huge arena also facilitates the Diesel engine plant and a supplier’s park.
In the early part of 2014 Maruti Suzuki has also custom made the 1-MW solar power plant Inside the Manesar facility plant with the investment of Rs. 10.3 crore. This 1-MW helps the company off set CO2 discharging to the tune of over 1200 tones annually.
Not a long ago, Manesar’s excellence has been rewarded with CII 5S award for its best practices in observing the Japanese 5S Philosophy which improves Productivity and efficiency.
Like the Gurgaon plant, Three Manesar plant (A, B, C) have plenty in-built quality checks and system to ensure that there is no compromise with the quality and manufacturing of cars. High Degree of robotic control and automation in the press shop, paint shop and weld shop to carry out the manufacturing work with at most precision and unmatched quality.
Areas of difficult and challenging manual operations are supported by robotics and automation. Company’s twin plant Gurgaon and Manesar facilitates 14 million Vehicles cumulatively.
