The Wagon R, bread and butter model for Maruti Suzuki has been setting sales chart on fire since its advent. Its Stingray range which is an enhanced version of standard model in terms of exterior and interior has failed to take off. Based on poor response, Maruti is looking to discontinue Stingray and it will be replaced by or rebadged as Wagon R minor.
The price list has also been leaked which suggest that Wagon R Minor will be priced from Rs. 4.14-5.37 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker hasn’t made any official announcement yet. As per the leaked information, Wagon R minor will be available in three trims- LXI, VXI and VXI+ and dual front airbags (driver and co-passenger) and ABS (Anti-lock braking system) will be optional across the line up.
The new version looks identical to Stingray except for the tailgate mounted chrome strip and Minor badge. While interior now features new black and beige color scheme with gloss black accents replacing the black interior with silver inserts of Stingray. It comes with eagle shaped music system with dock and USB, keyless central locking, rear power window, electric outer rear view mirror etc.
The Wagon R minor will be available in the following color options- Silky Silver Metallic, Superior White, Metallic Glistering Grey, Passion Red, Metallic Blazing Blue, Midnight Blue and Metallic bakers chocolate.
Under the hood, the car will remain untouched and will utilize the same 1.0l K series petrol engine that makes 68PS power and 90Nm of torque, linked to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AGS gearbox.
