Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming premium hatchback internally codenamed as YRA, has been unveiled in a new teaser before its official reveal at 66th Frankfurt motor show on 15th September. The YRA hatchback will be called Baleno in international markets while for India it will have a different nameplate as given the history of Baleno in the country. The YRA aka Baleno will be manufactured in India and exported to international inducing Europe.
We have heard that Maruti will launch YRA hatchback in October in India which will be compelling in one of stern segment in the country with competitors like Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. The company aims to produce around 90,000 units a year out of which 40,000 units will be allotted to India. MSIL will also launch YBA compact SUV named Vitara Brezza in 2016, both the vehicles will be retailed via NEXA dealerships.
The new Baleno hatchback will come with both diesel and petrol engines, the petrol engine would be familiar 1.2l K-series generating 83PS though the international variant will get a 1.0l booster jet engine. The diesel engine too would remain same, the 1.3l DDis unit churning out 90PS power. Transmission options include a manual as well as an automatic.
With YRA aka Baleno Suzuki will leave no stone unturned and will try to equip it with many premium features. It will be seen with a 7 inch touchscreen Smartplay infotainment system, rear AC vents, start stop button, cruise control, leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls, dual airbags, ABS, black interior theme etc.
On the design front, it gets S-cross inspired grille finished in V shape, wraparound headlamps with LED DRLs, wide bumper with round fog lamps, multi spoke alloy wheels and C-shaped LED tail lamps makes it a most distinctive looking Maruti till date.
Maruti is also planning a hybrid version of Ciaz name Ciaz SHVS (smart vehicle system) which is expected next month. The Hybrid version of Ciaz is surely going to be a hit and will create uproar for the maker in a positive way.
