Maruti Suzuki’s much-awaited true blue sub-4 meter SUV Vitara Brezza aka YRA has been spotted at the company’s factory. According to sources, Vitara is likely to make its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo followed by its imminent launch which will take place in April 2016. After the S-Cross and Baleno, the Vitara Brezza will be the third Maruti model to be sold via NEXA dealerships.
The India-bound Maruti Suzuki Vitara is based iV-4 concept which made its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and it is already on sale in international markets. The Vitara was first launched back in 2003 in India with a petrol engine which was replaced in the year 2007 with next gen model. Unfortunately it didn’t go well for the carmaker due to unavailability of diesel engine which is resulted in slow sales.
The new SUV will be pitched in the very competitive segment against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and upcoming Honda BR-V. However, the price will play a crucial role and it is expected to price around Rs. 6-9 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The new SUV will be available with both the engines this time- 1.2l K series VVT Petrol and 1.3l DDis diesel. Internationally, the Vitara is available with a 1.6-litre petrol engine that belts out 120bhp and 156Nm of power and torque output. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic option.
It also gets the 1.6-litre diesel engine which is already available in India with recently launched Maruti’s premium Crossover, S-Cross. The engine is good for 120bhp of power and 320Nm of torque and paired with a manual gearbox.
On design front, it features with twin-slat chrome grille flanked by peeled back headlamps with LED DRLs, floating roofline, wraparound tail lights. It also gets a dual-tone exterior color scheme with contrasting roof. In terms of features, it is expected to get touchscreen infotainment system, dual airbags, reverse parking camera, multi function steering wheel, ABS, automatic climate control and many more.
