The models which are manufactured between November 12, 2013 and February 4, 2014 will be placed under this act to replace faulty fuel filler neck.
“This exercise is limited to vehicles within the above specified range and does not pertain to any other vehicle of the company,” Maruti Suzuki India said in a statement.
When asked about the reason behind this recall, company explained that there are possibilities of fuel smell in the affected vehicles and also there may be some fuel leakage in extreme condition, if fuel is filled up to the Fuel Cap, beyond ‘Auto cutoff level’.
The dealers of Maruti Suzuki soon are going to contact the all vehicles owners in the above mentioned range. The ‘fuel filler neck’ will be replaced free of cost by the company.
Company further stated, “As part of its regular Quality tests in the manufacturing process, the Company noticed the problem. The new fuel filler neck is being progressively dispatched to the dealer workshops.”
To avoid any misunderstanding in future, Maruti suggested the users of Ertiga, Dzire and Swift (who brought their car post 12th November) to check the company website www.marutisuzuki.com to ensure if their car is among the above mentioned vehicles or they can also contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer.
The customer is requested to fill in the chassis number (MA3 followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) on the computer screen. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also in the vehicle invoice / registration documents.
