Maruti Suzuki Celerio was one of biggest launches in 2014 which not only created good sales number for the India’s largest car manufacturer but grabbed huge amount of attention of the masses. Main USP in Celerio was the automated manual transmission with efficient mileage in an affordable price range.
In order to cash in the popularity of Celerio Maruti Suzuki then came up with Celerio’s CNG variant with the mileage of 31.36 km/ltr. Celerio was the least priced AMT car in India until new Alto K10 dethroned it.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of Celerio diesel to further utilize the popularity; the home grown car maker will launch Celerio Diesel in the first half of 2015. Celerio is already a hit car that magnetized many buyers towards it and addition of diesel variant will certainly make Celerio more popular.
Celerio Diesel will feature with all new 800cc diesel engine will produce 50bhp power and will return around 30 km/L mileage which will make it a most fuel efficient diesel car in the market. But it is not confirmed that Celerio diesel will get an AMT or not. Maruti Suzuki will produce new engine and diesel Celerio at the Manesar plant, Gurgaon.
Price for diesel Celerio is to remain under 5 lakh (ex-showroom) but expect Celerio diesel to cost 50,000-80,000 more than the Petrol variant.
Celerio Diesel will lock its horns with Chevrolet beat diesel and upcoming Tata’s small hatchback. Celerio will be equipped with ABS and Airbags but on the higher variants only.
Besides Celerio diesel Maruti Suzuki will launch SX4 S Cross, Dzire facelift, Ciaz RS variant, Wagon R AMT, Ertiga facelift and YRA hatchback to take on Elite i20. 2014 was a great year for the India’s largest car manufacture as they achieved over 11.48 lakh units sales mark and with these new launches we can expect new landmarks in 2015.
