India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has re-introduced a special edition of its popular hatchback model Swift in India. Badged as DLX edition, it is available on base LXi and LDi grades with driver side airbag as standard on both. The LXi DLX has been priced at Rs. 4.8 lakhs while its diesel sibling set you back at Rs. 5.95 lakhs. All prices are of ex-showroom Delhi. The DLX edition was launched in July last year.
The new edition features some cosmetic enhancements both outside and inside to lend a sporty look. In terms of changes, it boasts blackened out B-pillars, body colored ORVMs and door handles and new fog lamp enclosures. Apart from driver side airbag, DLX continues to sport similar features to previous version.
In terms of features, DLX edition comes with central locking, USB and bluetooth connectivity with speakers, all four power windows, electrical power steering with tilt adjustable support, 60:40 rear seat split. Besides airbags, it gets optional anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electric brake force distribution (EBD), engine immobilizer, child safety lock, I-cats security system etc.
It continues to be powered by same set of engines, 1.2l VVT petrol which is capable of delivering 83bhp power and 114Nm of torque and delivers an ARAI rated mileage of 20.4Kmpl. The 1.3l DDIs diesel motor makes 74bhp of max power and high torque of 190Nm; it is rated to deliver 25.2 Kmpl. Both the engines are linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Expect lots of special editions of Swift duos this year as it will make way for the next gen models. The 2017 Maruti Dzire is likely to hit Indian market July-August while next Gen Swift will be launched by late 2017.
