Maruti Suzuki has showcased its upcoming compact SUV at IIFA awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 7th June 2015. The car will be called the S-Cross in Indian market and will be launching in the first week of July. With the S-Cross Maruti Suzuki is entering the compact SUV/Crossover segment in India.
In International markets, S-Cross is available with petrol as well diesel engines but for India it is expected to come with 1.3L diesel engine that does duty in most of the Maruti cars and develops 90bhp power. The Indian Spec S Cross will be powered by 1.6L diesel engine that produces 120bhp power and comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Petrol engine, AWD and an automatic transmission still remains a question mark for Indian market though all these are available in International variant. S-Cross will board features like rear AC vents, Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, navigation system, keyless entry and all black interiors.
The Maruti S-Cross flaunts two slate front grille, LED daytime running Lights, higher ground clearance, black cladding and scuff plates at front and rear sides, black alloy wheels and will carry the Suzuki logo at the grille and tailgate.
The car measures 4300mm in length, 1765mm in width, 1580mm in width and has a boot capacity of 430 liters which can be extended up to 1270 liters by folding the rear seat.
The S-cross is expected to come in six colors– Arctic white pearl, Cosmic black Pearl Metallic, Galactic Grey metallic, Boost blue pearl metallic, Bison Brown pearl metallic and Silky silver metallic (doubtful). The S-Cross is the premium offering by Maruti and will be sold at Nixa showrooms which are being set up for company’s premium products like Ciaz, S-Cross, upcoming YBA hatchback and SUV.
The prices of S-cross could start from Rs. 8 lakh to 12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the car will take on Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and upcoming Hyundai Creta (iX25) in the country.
