Maruti Suzuki mid size sedan Ciaz was launched in 2014 and it became of the fastest selling sedan to clock 1 lakh sales milestone. The sales were boosted by the advent of hybrid technology and since then it went on to create new records and frequently dethroned Honda City from the top position. Both the sedans have exchanged blows for the pole position in the segment and that indicate respective facelifts to master the battle.

While Honda City facelift will be making its way in January 2017, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift might hit the floors by April 2017. It is likely to receive some cosmetic upgrades along with some added features while remaining identical under the hood to the ongoing model. Reports also suggest that the number of Nexa dealerships are expected to grow by 250 by end of this year, MSIL might move Ciaz to Nexa range.

Speaking of the changes, new Ciaz might get reworked front grille, revised fog lamp area, HID projector headlights with LED daytime running lights and new set of alloy wheels. Inside, it is expected to get all black theme, revised upholstery, new touchscreen unit with Apple car play, android auto and voice recognition and electric sunroof.

It is currently powered by a 1.4 litre petrol mill delivering 91bhp@6000rpm and 130Nm of torque@4000rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The oil burner houses a mild hybrid (SHVS) technology with 1248cc engine that belts out 89bhp power and 200Nm of torque@1750rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to SHVS technology, Ciaz is one of the most fuel efficient cars in India with 28.1 Kmpl of impressive mileage.

Rumors also indicate that a bigger 1.5 litre petrol engine might also be on the cards and additionally S-cross powered 1.6l diesel engine might make way to Ciaz facelift. Maruti Suzuki wants to start 2017 with a bang by launching Baleno RS followed by Ignis hatchback and Ciaz facelift. By Q2 we might see new Swift Dzire and Swift hatchback on Indian roads.
