Maruti Suzuki is on cloud 9 as it making inroads into different segments with full authority and great numbers. Performance oriented Baleno hatchback is expected to take this to new heights which has been slated for India launch on 3rd March this year. The hatchback was first showcased at 2016 Auto Expo and spotted for the first time ever without any camouflage.
The Baleno RS has a similar silhouette to the standard model albeit sporty body kit, front fascia with chrome border, black honeycomb front grille, circular fog lamps with plastic surrounding, and sweptback projector headlamps with LED Daytime running lights. Side profile flaunts new 16 inches black coated alloy wheels, side skirts and chrome door handles. Rear features sportier roof spoiler and RS badge to enhance the feel of this hot hatch.
Interiors will remain similar to standard model and based on top spec Alpha grade it will sports all black interiors, auto AC, Smartplay touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple car play and reverse parking display assistance. Other feature include power windows, keyless entry, start/stop button, steering mounted controls, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFLIX child seats and all four disc brakes.
Significant change comes under the hood in the form of 1.0l Boosterjet petrol mill that’s claim to deliver 100bhp power@5500rpm and 150Nm of torque between 1700-4500rpm. It will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox while an AT might be launched later on. The RS version is claimed to more fuel efficient than standard 1.2l Petrol. With an expected price of Rs. 8-9 lakh (ex-showroom) it will take on Abarth Punto and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
