With the festive season around the corner, Maruti Suzuki has launched the Utsav Edition of the Alto 800 in India for Rs. 3.94 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new car is based on VXi (O) variant of the Alto 800 and it is 20,000 costlier over the standard version. This is said to be a step by the company to promote Alto sales and to keep the buyer’s interest alive. It has also been heard that Maruti would showcase a new version of Alto at the 2018 Auto Expo with higher ground clearance, better space and SUV-ish styling.
The new Maruti Alto Utsav Edition receives more of cosmetic changes as mechanically it remains same. In terms of changes, red and yellow decals on the sides, chrome garnishing on fog lamps, ORVMs, the lower lip of the boot lid and tail lamps.
Coming to the inner changes you find all-black upholstery with red accents, reverse parking sensor, door sill guards, and brand new seat covers. The Maruti Alto is powered by the same 796cc 3-cylinder petrol motor that produces 48 HP of power and 69 Nm of torque. The engine comes linked to a 5-speed manual transmission and has an ARAI rated fuel capacity of 24.7 km/l.
Currently, the Alto 800 is the head in the mini-hatchback segment but Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-GO have dented its sales and giving a tough competition. The company for upgrading its sales is offering discounts up to Rs. 25,000 and the even additional bonus is being given on exchange also.
