Mahindra has expanded its range of automatic gearbox to its flagship SUV, XUV500 in order to make the SUV more accessible. Now the carmaker is offering AT on the W6 FWD variant which is priced at Rs. 14.29 lakh (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai) and available at Mahindra dealerships across the country. The automatic gearbox is now available on four trims W6 FWD, W8 FWD, W10 FWD and W10 AWD.
The Mahindra XUV500 W6 AT variant will look to whip off some market pie from popular Hyundai Creta AT and recently launched Renault Duster. The price-size advantage clearly goes in favor of Mahindra XUV500.
Powering the blistering SUV is the same 4-cylinder 2.2 litre mhawk diesel engine that makes 138bhp power@3750rpm and 330Nm of torque between 1600-2800rpm linked to a six speed torque converter with manual mode. However for Delhi-NCR region it will get a 1.99l engine due to Supreme Court’s ban on the new registrations of above 2000cc diesel engines.
Features on W6 AT includes a seven inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, aux-in, voice recognition and SMS read outs, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate control, projector headlamps with light guides, reverse parking sensors, micro hybrid technology, dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system, steering mounted controls.
Speaking on the launch of XUV500 W6 FWD AT variant, Mr. Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer, automotive division, M&M Ltd. said, “The automatic transmission of the new age XUV500 has resonated very well with our customers since we launched it in November 2015. I am sure that the availability of the automatic transmission across variants and a range of price points will now render this technology more accessible to a larger base of customers and make the XUV500 a more attractive proposition amongst a wide spectrum of buyers.
