The home grown manufacturer Mahindra is reportedly working on the updated version of Quanto because it has not yield strong sales for Mahindra. Quanto looks like a quirky compact version of Xylo which acted as a main scoundrel for its not so good sales. Mahindra Quanto was launched in 2012 and achieved average sales as expected which also faded away with the time and turned into nightmare for Quanto.

Quanto was not able to match sales of XUV500, Scorpio and Bolero and managed to sell around 100-150 units a month.

In order to improve the sales of Quanto Mahindra is readying an updated version and we hope Mahindra will improve the Quanto’s appearance which is its weakest point. Mahindra will launch Quanto with refresh appearance like new design alloy wheels, revised headlamps, redesigned grille and bumper. We hope rear side could get some tweaks as well because it makes the overall design of Quanto unconventional.

On the inside facelifted Quanto will get new beige upholstery, new steering wheel and more comfortable and cushy seats with lumbar support (front seats only), advanced audio system with bluetooth connectivity and voice recognition support. Apart from all this Quanto will get an updated instrument cluster with display gauges like outside temperature, average fuel consumption etc.

Under the Hood, facelifted Quanto is expected to feature with same 1.5L three cylinder diesel mill that develops 98.6bhp power@3750rpm and 240Nm torque@1600-2800rpm mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Mahindra will also Quanto AMT which will sit as the top of the line of Quanto variants.

Unlike Maruti which uses Magneti Marelli produces AMT that features in Celerio and new Alto K10 but Mahindra will use 5 speed AMT gearbox jointly developed by Mahindra and Ricardo, UK based company with an electric control and hydraulic system.

Expect Quanto to be priced around 6.5-8 lakhs INR (ex-showroom) and it will take on the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Ford Eco Sport etc. According to reliable sources Mahindra will launch updated Quanto AMT in India by March 2015.

Apart from refresh Quanto Mahindra will launch XUV500 facelift, compact SUV S101, New Bolero etc.
