Mahindra & Mahindra was among first to who launched sub 4 meter vehicle in India i.e. Quanto and now Mahindra is planning to launch more cars in this segment. Mahindra lost quite a hefty market share to cars like Renault Duster and Ford Eco sport, so in order to regain the market share Mahindra will try to maximize the launch of its each and every car in the coming time by doing something unique.

S101 compact SUV which has been caught testing several times, it will be battling against the Ford eco sport. S101 will be powered by 1.2L petrol engine which is developed with the help of its South Korean mate SsangYong and it will be the first engine to be developed after the collaboration. S101 will be loaded with lots of internal accessories and we can expect dash mounted gear knob to maximize the cabin space.

Second will be Bolero which is being caught testing in recent time codenamed U301 which also will be launching in sub-4 meter segment and full size segment.  Bolero will have a bolder appearance inspiring from Jeep Wrangler, which will be sold with regular size Bolero with regard to its demand in semi-urban and urban areas.

We can expect Quanto facelift instead of Bolero because as we had seen in the Auto expo this year Mahindra showcased Quanto with AMT gearbox which is likely to be launch this year. Mahindra didn’t want to get into the segment of Scorpio and XUV 500 because they understand the bright future of compact SUV, So they keeping their focus on this direction.

Beside this its collaboration partner SsangYong is planning to launch their two new SUV in India by 2015 which are codenamed X100 and Rodius.

In an interview with a renowned TV channel, Pawan Goenka, president of auto and farm equipment with M&M, Said, when asked about the launch of the upcoming SUVs “Clearly, this industry has reached a level which we had not anticipated three years ago in terms of the kind of interest that UV segment, especially the compact UV segment has. . . In hindsight, we started a year sooner but we are where we are and we will come out next year and we will have good products and should recoup the lost market share in the UV segment.”
