Mahindra e2o, one of the different attempts of the Indian automotive industry has come to an end. Mahindra electric has suspended the sales of two door version of e2o and it is officially removed from the website. The e2o will be exported to international markets and will only be available till the stock lasts. The substitute to Reva was launched in India in 2013 and played a significant role in developing EV in Indian market. Being an electric vehicle government offers a subsidy of Rs. 2 lakh on the on road price of Mahindra e2o.
Mahindra Electric has recently introduced a four door trim of the model christened as e2o plus which might have brought curtains for the smaller sibling. The highlight of the new model is longer wheelbase which results in larger space, rear doors offering better practicality, decent cargo capacity and addition of larger battery.
India’s first EV was powered by a three induction motor that puts out 26PS power and 53Nm of torque. The car can attain a top speed of 81 km/hr and run on 120km on a full charge of battery. The e2o plus can travel up to 140 km on single full charge and its battery can be charged in just 90 minutes.
The e2o is available in four different variants- P2, P4, P6 and P8. The three induction motor in first three trim develops 26PS and 70Nm while in P8 it delivers healthy 40PS power and 91Nm of torque. Priced between Rs. 5.46 and 8.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), e2o Plus packs with range of features such as new Blaupunkt infotainment system with Smartphone integration, regenerative braking, hill hold control, keyless entry, reversing camera and much more.
