The Mercedes-Benz has launched its all new AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ in India. Although the brand has a standard version of the E 63 on sale abroad but Mercedes has decided to bring the top-of-the-line S variant to India. The car was first showcased in October 2016 at the Los Angeles Motor Show and now has been launched for the Indian buyers, check out the updates on its launch.

Engine Details

This top-of-the-line variant packs a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 producing a colossal 612hp and 850Nm of torque.  The sedan is based on a nine-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The E 63 claims to run 0-100kph in just 3.4 seconds. This means that the sedan accelerates even faster than the AMG GT R supercar. The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 250kmph but can also be revised to 300kmph with the AMG Driver’s package option.  Mercedes has also equipped the V8 engine with cylinder deactivation technology that makes the car more fuel efficient. The E 63’s all-wheel drive system is also flexible and its innovative 4MATIC+ drives system offers fully variable torque distribution on the front and rear axles to ensure optimum traction.

Exterior and Interior

The sedan apart from all has a more muscular looking hood, revised front bumper for better aerodynamics and carbon fibre spoiler mounted onto the boot lid. The wheel arches on the E 63 S are wider than the standard E-Class and possesses 20-inch alloy wheels. The car also gets massive 265/35 R 20 tyres at the front and 295/30 R20 rubber at the back to maximize traction. More the car gets air suspension that promises a much better ride quality and you can even raise the suspension to go over speed breakers without scraping the underside. In terms of design, the car has added an expressive exterior design, featuring a new radiator grille, coupe-style inset bonnet and an aerodynamically sound wide and muscular front apron. The car gets completely re-engineered AMG sport suspension based on the air body control.

Safety

The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S comes with adaptive dual stage airbags for driver and front passenger. Besides this it also has side impact air-bags for driver and front passenger and window airbags.

Price

The car is priced at 1.50 crore INR (ex-showroom) and is  is on sale through Mercedes-Benz’s AMG Performance Centres all over the country . As of now we can see only one rival of the sedan in the country that is the BMW M5. Its latest version was launched in India in the Auto Expo this year.
