India’s first in-house built Sportscar DC Avanti has been finally launched in the country, with prices starting from Rs. 35.93 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). The launch event took place at Maharashtra, company’s only dealership under the name of Aadivenoo motors. The launch event was kick started by owner of the firm itself, Mr. Dilip Chhabria. The Car was first showcased at 2014 auto expo and since then we all have been waiting for its launch.
Every now and then reports have emerged online related to its launch but none of them proved fruitful, now finally it has been officially launched in India. The car has been especially design keeping the young enthusiast in mind and it is manufactured at DC’s plant in Talegaon, near Pune.
India’s most affordable car is available in three exterior shades to choose from-Red, Silver and white. It is also available with more customized color options which include custom matte finish paint-jobs, Alcantara leather headlining, reverse camera, carbon fibre inserts for the interiors, bright aluminum scuff plates, an Apple Car Play infotainment system, leather flooring with contrast stitching etc.
DC Avanti features a Renault sourced, Euro complaint, 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 250bhp power@5500rpm and 360Nm of peak torque@2700-3500rpm with power sent to rear wheels via a 6 speed manual transmission only. The engine propels car to make 0-100km sprint in 6 seconds with the electronically limited speed of 200km/hr. The sportscar is built on tubular frame chassis and sports double wishbones, coil over shock absorbers.
The Indigenous car comes with two seating configuration and measures 4565mm in length, 2120mm of width and 1200mm height. It has a wheelbase and ground clearance of 2700mm and 155mm respectively. The Supercar comes with a kerb weight of 1580 kgs as it has been manufactured using carbon fibre body shell results in lightweight frame chassis.
On the safety front, the Avanti comes equipped with ABS, EBD, all four disc brakes, brake assist, differential lock, electronic stability program, engine immobilizer, remote control central locking, and reverse parking sensors with assist. Sadly, it misses out on airbags.
Mr. Dilip chhabra, said, “We are proud of the fact that it is indigenously designed and developed in India for Indian customers and for Indian roads. It’s now a car that the young can aspire. Usually when you’re young, you can’t afford a sports car. But with this, we are trying to reach out to the young aspirants to be able to afford a sports car because in other countries the sports car is a huge segment by itself,”
