Ahead of its imminent launch in India, the new VW Beetle’s brochure has been leaked online revealing all the important features and Specs. The German carmaker has imported over 40 units of new beetle in the country and we expect VW to launch the hatchback in the second half of next month. The VW Beetle kicked off its journey as a common man’s choice soon became a style icon and global charmer.

Volkswagen introduced the hatchback in 2009 in India and stared a niche segment of premium hatchbacks before VW discontinued it from the market citing poor sales graph. The retro icon is making its comeback into India retaining the charming silhouette which is its USP. The Volkswagen beetle competes with Mini Cooper, Abarth 595 Competizione, Mercedes-Benz A-class and BMW 1 series in India. It is expected to be offered at a premium price tag of Rs. 30-32 lakh (ex-showroom) as it would be brought into the country via CBU route.

The new GEN VW Beetle will be offered in one variant only which comes fitted with features like bi-xenon headlamps with LED Daytime running lights, power retraceable ORVMs (outer rear view mirrors), front fog lamps with static cornering lights, new 16 inch alloy wheels, Panoramic glass sunroof, refurbished front and rear bumpers, dual muffler tips, revised rear spoiler and tweaked tail lamps.

The classic hatchback will be available in 4 colors – Oryx White, Tornado Red, Habanero Orange and Blue Silk.

Being available in single variant, the beetle will arrive in its fully loaded avatar with features like dual zone automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, hearted font seats, auto dimming IRVM, keyless entry, start/stop button, ambient lighting with three color options, rain sensor and chrome underlining for rotary switches. For entertainment, it gets a Radio “Composition Media” with 8 speakers, USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth connectivity.

Noteworthy safety features on 2015 beetle include six airbags, hill hold control, four disc brakes, ABS, ESC, EDL, EDIC, engine immobilizer, three-point seatbelt with belt tensioners, front and rear park distance control with acoustic warning and brake pad wear indicator.

The new Gen Beetle will use the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, claimed to produce healthy 147bhp power and 250Nm of torque. The power will be transmitted to the front wheels via the 7 speed dual-clutch automatic DSG transmission aided by paddle shifters.
