Earlier there were reports that Honda is considering new Accord for Indian market in 2016. Now, the company has revealed the ninth generation Accord in Silicon Valley in USA. The facelift Honda will make its debut in USA next month while its India launch is expected sometime in 2016. The new Honda Accord not only looks the most iconic Accord ever but is also the most tech-loaded one till date.
Speaking of the changes, the updated Accord retains the basic silhouette while getting some comprehensive cosmetic changes like Signature H badge front chrome grille, new LED set up for headlamps, fog lamps along with LED daytime running lights, new front-rear bumper, tweaked bonnet which now looks beefy. The 2016 Accord will be offered in 19 inch alloy wheels, a chrome thick line at rear which is set higher the current model, wider exhaust chrome pipes. The new styling makes 2016 Accord an extremely futuristic designed car.
The more comprehensive changes have made inside the car as it get twin screen set up which includes an all new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android auto and apple car play app. There is also a bigger 7.7 inch screen which can be used for reverse parking display assistance, audio controls/settings, incoming calls and Lane watch.
Other prominent inside the cabin include dual zone climate control with its controls now finished in black, rain sensing windshield wipers, ventilated seats, 60:40 rear seat spilt along with several other comport features and goodies.
In terms of safety, 2016 Honda Accord comes armed with multiple rear view camera, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation with lane departure warning, collision mitigation warning with forward collision warning (FCW) and much more.
In international markets, Accord will be available with 2.4L four cylinder i-VTEC petrol and a 3.5L V6 motor, both come paired to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed CVT automatic transmission. For India, expect only a 2.4L engine followed by a hybrid version later in 2016 to tackle Toyota Camry. Honda will be launching new Accord in India in 2016 auto expo and likely to price within the range of Rs. 22-25 lakh.
The new Accord will rival against the likes of Skoda Superb, Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry. However, it would be difficult for new accord to regain the lost market share as all the mentioned cars are very capable and getting good response from the buyers.
