Emerging reports suggest that Hyundai’s Flagship Santa Fe has been discontinued in India. However, the company has not made any official announcement yet but the SUV has vanished from the carmaker’s website. The steady drop of sales graph, over the past 6 months only 45 units were sold. In July only 14 units were retailed while in August only 1 unit of Santa Fe was sold.
The possible reason behind such low performance could be Tucson’s pricing as its top variant cost around Rs. 24.5 lakh while Santa Fe comes at an introductory price of Rs. 27.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Some say Santa Fe has been axed, while according to other it would available on made to order basis. In the premium SUV segment, a major chunk of pie shared by new Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour sold 2116 and 1163 units respectively in August 2017.
The Santa Fe was a feature loaded SUV with LED headlamps with LED DRL, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and voice control, adjustable front seats, Smart cruise control, sunroof, 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, engine start-stop button, leather upholstery, high beam assist, eight airbags, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist and emergency braking to name a few.
The Hyundai Santa Fe was first launched in 2014 Auto Expo and received an update a year later. Available in three variant 2WD, 2WD AT and AWD AT, it was priced at Rs. 27.86 lakh to Rs. 31.12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Hyundai Santa Fe had a 2.2 litre CRDi diesel motor that delivered 194bhp@3800rpm and 421Nm of Torque between 1800-2500rpm. It came with a 2WD and AWD configurations, the former was available with an option of 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission while latter only available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
