Hyundai has launched a special edition of its premium hatchback Elite i20 to mark the completion of one year of its launch in India. Launched in August 2015, Elite i20 is a bestselling car in the country today retailing over 10k units a month. In less than a year, it managed to find 1 lakh customers which is exceptional considering its price range. Off-late, Hyundai has introduced a 7 inch AVN touchscreen system to add some spice to Elite i20.
Based on Sportz variant, the limited edition has been priced over a premium of Rs. 30,000 and the changes are purely cosmetic. The Anniversary edition has been limited only to 600 units and it is available at a price of Rs. 6.69 lakh for petrol and Rs. 7.84 lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom Delhi).
Cosmetic differences from the standard model includes a new 16-inch alloy wheels, blackened out B-C pillars, glossy black roof top, side body decals and special edition badge at the tailgate. Inside, features like 2DIN audio system with 1GB storage, bluetooth connectivity, USB, six speakers, multi function steering wheel and climate control comes as standard.
Apart from the standard equipments, it gets seat covers, floor mats, parcel tray, sporty pedals, exclusive upholstery and anniversary edition badging to be fitted at dealer end. The limited edition is only offered in a white paint shade only.
As mentioned above, it is available in both petrol and diesel engines-1.2l VTVT and 1.4l U2 CRDi. The 1.2l petrol is capable of producing 82bhp of max power@6000rpm and 115Nm of peak torque@4000rpm,mated to a five speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 1.4l UR CRDi is good for 89bhp and 220Nm of max torque between 1500-2750rpm, coupled to a six speed manual transmission.
With the addition of touchscreen system and the limited anniversary variant, the Elite i20 is making it difficult for New Jazz to rejuvenate its presence in India.
