Hyundai Creta achieves 13,000 record sales in July 2016, gets three new variants

Hyundai’s compact SUV Creta has had a fantastic journey ever since it’s launched in India, within a year of its existence the car has already received over 1 lakh bookings. In addition, the SUV has been consistently making its presence in the top 10 cars of the month. Adding another feather to its cap, Creta achieved record sales of 13,429 units ticking 50 percent growth as compared to 6783 units in July 2015.

These impressive numbers just doesn’t accumulate by domestic market performance but also the export numbers. In July 2016, the domestic sales of Creta stood at 7981 units whereas export volumes count up at impressive 5448 units. Till now more than 1.25 lakhs Cretas have been sold. And to further strengthen its foothold in the market, India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter has added 3 new variants of Creta SUV- named anniversary edition, Executive (E+) and S+ automatic.

Anniversary edition:

Based on SX+ trim, the anniversary edition sports dual tone decals with gloss black roof top flanked with C-pillars and integrated roof spoiler, black fin shark antenna and 17 inch alloy features. Hyundai is offering this limited edition in just one color i.e. white. Speaking of the cabin changes, it sports dual beige black grey dashboard, leather packed steering wheel, fabric upholstery with red accents on the seats and HVAC vents. Rest of the features is similar to standard SX+ trim. It is available in both petrol and diesel powertrains.

Hyundai Creta New Variant Back

Creta E+ Trim:

Hyundai is celebrating firs successful year of Creta by introducing the E+ petrol variant priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new trim sports some additional features such as a 5 inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, steering mounted bluetooth and audio controls, rear AC vents, auto fold power mirrors with LED turn blinkers. It misses out on features like projector headlamps and alloy wheels.

Powering it is same 1.6l Dual VVT petrol engine developing 121bhp power@6400rpm and 151Nm of high torque@4850rpm, powering the front wheel drive, the engine is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Creta S+ Automatic:

Seeing growing popularity of automatic gearbox, Hyundai has added S+ automatic trim to the SUV’s line up. Priced at Rs. 13.58 lakh this variant takes its juice from 1.6l CRDi VGT diesel mill that belts out max output of 126bhp@4000rpm and 260Nm of torque between 1900-2750rpm, linked with a six speed automatic gearbox. Features on board are 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with 1GB HDD and bluetooth support, six speaker audio system, boomerang shaped fog lamps, dual front airbags with ABS. Unfortunately, it misses out of range of features such as chrome front grille, projector headlamps, automatic climate control, rear wiper and push start button.

The top end SX plus automatic is priced at Rs. 14.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), so with the price difference of less than a lakh it will surely attract the larger audience base. In addition, new earth brown color shade has been added to the Creta line up.

Here are the prices of all newly launched variants:-

  • Hyundai Creta E+ Petrol: Rs. 9.99 lakh
  • Hyundai Creta Anniversary edition petrol: Rs. 12.26 lakh
  • Hyundai Creta Anniversary edition diesel: Rs. 13.76 lakh
  •  Hyundai Creta S+ Automatic: Rs. 13.58 lakh
