Honda India recently launched new variants of Brio hatchback and Amaze compact sedan with AVN (Audio video navigation) package. Apart from many new car launches this year Honda is trying to compel its existing models by introducing new variants with minor add-ons and tweaks. Honda might launch RS variant of Amaze which has been spotted testing in Honda’s Noida Plant which is company’s stockyard.
Honda Amaze is placed in one of the toughest segment of Indian automobile market so Honda is trying to match up with the competition by keep introducing new variants of existing models. Amaze had a mix bag during last six months with its sales were like roller coaster, in the month of November 2014 Amaze was beaten by Tata’s revolution ‘Zest’ but in December Amaze manages to recover from that shock partially.
RS variant of Amaze was spied at the company’s stockyard with following changes:
- Side body claddings with chrome accents
- Front bumper skirting
- Rear bumper skirting
- Boot lid lip spoiler
- Large chrome licked exhaust tip
These are the few changes which differentiate RS Amaze from the standard Amaze, on the inside Honda will continue to offer same features and same is the case with the engines. RS Amaze will be priced slightly higher than the standard variant due to these add-ons and it could be a limited edition also.
However it is not sure that the RS variant will feature with petrol or diesel motor or both. During the launch of AVN variants Honda has announced that in 2015 Amaze will get a CNG variant. Apart from Amaze series Honda will launch new Jazz, next Gen Accord and Honda CR-v this year.
Honda Amaze has some fierce competitors in the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Maruti Suzuki Dzire which will also get a facelift soon. So it becomes necessary for Honda to keep up the pace with the competitors but it will be interesting to see that the addition of accessories will bring some added sales numbers also.
