Hyundai has now started the mass production of its sub compact SUV Venue at its plant in Chennai. The carmaker will enter the sub-4m SUV segment for the first time in India with the Venue on 21st May, when the car will be launched. The Venue can be booked online as well as at Hyundai’s dealerships for an amount of Rs 21,000.
Hyundai will offer the Venue with two petrol engine options: 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbocharged and one diesel engine (1.4-litre). The 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engine options are also available on the Elite i20, but the 1.0-litre engine will debut on the sub-4m SUV. Though, all the three engines will be available with a manual transmission, only the 1.0-litre petrol engine will have the option of automatic transmission, a 7-speed dual-clutch unit.
The Venue will be launched in seven monotone colour options including: Star Dust, Fiery Red, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Deep Forest, Lava Orange, and Denim Blue — on all variants. It will also be available with three dual-tone colour options – blue with white roof, white with black roof and orange with black roof -, albeit only on the SX variant. The official image released by Hyundai reveals the India-spec Venue in dual-tone (orange with black roof and ORVMs) exterior color combination for the first time.
Hyundai is still to reveal the variant-wise features of the Venue, as far as we know the top variant will offer features like an 8-inch infotainment system with Hyundai Blue Link telematics and internet-based (eSIM) connectivity features, an electric sunroof and six airbags.
In the country, Venue will compete with car like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. We expect its price to start from INR 7.2 lakh and go up to INR 12 lakh.
Stay tuned for more updates on the car.
