The Datsun is planning to launch its second car in India in MPV segment as Datsun GO+ in January 2015 after making their debut with the support of Nissan by launching its first ever model in hatchback category named as Datsun GO. Datsun Go has not create much buzz in Indian car market due to poor reach ability but on the other hand Datsun Go+ has already reach the height of popularity with its long list features in affordable price range.
Price:
It is quite clear that Datsun will have to launch the MPV with a competitive price tag like its previous model. The GO plus is expected to come in the price bracket of 4.42- 5.36 lakhs. Datsun go plus will come in four variants D, A, T and Optional T.
Engine details:
Mechanically, the extended version of hatchback GO is expected to get the same engine like its sibling. This MPV GO plus might get the 1.2 liter 3-cylinder petrol engine which is responsible to develop the max power of 67.07bhp and 104Nm of peak torque. The engine will gear-up with same 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
On the Contrary, earlier this year company has denied that it will not offer Diesel variant for India. New Datsun model is expected to return mileage of around 20 KPL and Datsun Go plus is capable to reach 0-100 mark in 14 seconds with the top speed of 145-155 km/hr.
Space & Dimension:
Being a MPV model, it obviously will be of longer in length but less than 4 metres. Its length is approx 3995mm, width of about 1635mm and height of 1485mm. The wheelbase is going to be very decent in this new car which is said to be of 2450mm. It will offer a sufficient seating capacity for seven passengers with seating arrangement of 2+3+2. But by the looks of it go plus can squeeze 8 adults.
Interior & Exterior:
Datsun GO+ is going to equip with all those features which have made their presence in its hatchback GO with features like rear A/C vents, newly equipped mobile docket system, new position of gear knob, three spoke steering wheel, dual tone dashboard and infotainment system is still a doubt though.
Datsun Go is being criticized for cost cutting and very basic interiors, so we can expect same kind of interiors in GO MPV as well; improvement in cabin is very unlikely to happen.
Front Side looks same like its sibling Datsun hatchback and rear carries basic rear lights with GO+ badging.
It’s too early to predict Datsun Go’s Safety features but airbags and ABS kind of features are surely going to absent from Go plus. But it can be equipped with features like central lock system, 3 point seat belts front-rear, dual horn, side impact protection and child lock.
Verdict:
Datsun Go has not tasted much success since its launch due to lack of unavailability of its dealers in India. Datsun GO+ will compete in one of the fiercest segment which already consist prime players like Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga and apart from that Datsun GO + will compete with upcoming Renault’s Lodgy which will also makes its debut in the same month of Datsun go’s launch.
Datsun have to improve its after sales service and dealer network on a fast pace if they have to improve its market share in India.
