Datsun has launched its much awaited more powerful version of its best-selling model, the Redi GO 1.0L in India. Price starts at Rs. 3.57 lakh (ex-showroom Pan India) and borrows the same engine of its sibling Renault Kwid. Available in two variants- T (O) and S, Redi-Go 1.0L will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Renault Kwid 1.0l in India.
The powertrain used in Redi-Go is same 999cc three-cylinder petrol mill that makes 67bhp power and peak torque of 91Nm, linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Redi-Go 1.0 delivers an ARAI claimed mileage of 22.5 Kmpl as compared to 22.04 Kmpl. As of now, Datsun is offering AMT gearbox with Redi-Go.
Datsun hasn’t made any changes in design except for the 1.0l badge. The cabin gets all black theme, lock/unlock button on the central console, basic audio system with Aux-in but misses out on Bluetooth connectivity, front power windows, driver side airbag, central locking with keyless entry.
The Redi-go is based on CMF-A platform and shares engine, transmission and gearbox with Kwid. Redi-Go comes with LED daytime running lamps placed on the front bumper and good ground clearance of 185mm. Just to remind, it is available in five colour schemes that include red, lime, grey, white and silver.
Over the last 1-2 years, India’s taste has shifted to the automatic gearbox from manual thanks to the availability of AMTs that too in pocket-friendly price. However, it seems Datsun hasn’t realised the need and importance of automatic transmission in India.
