Datsun, the cost effective brand from Nissan will launch its MPV Datsun Go+ in India on 15th January, 2015 at financial capital of the country, Mumbai. Datsun has already revealed all the details related to Go+ on its official website with its compact dimensions it will create a new segment in the entry level car segment. Expect prices of Go+ MPV to start from 4 lakh to 5.5 lakh which might make it a most affordable priced MPV in the segment.
Go plus will be the second offering from Datsun after Go hatchback which was launched earlier this year. Datsun Go plus with the dimensions of 3995mm length, 1635mm wide and 1485mm height is under sub 4 meter segment which makes it a first compact MPV in India. But we are not really sure about the fact that with whom Go+ MPV will compete, if we consider Go plus as MPV than Ertiga and Mobilio but it’s too small as compared and too big to be compare it with hatchbacks like i20, Polo etc.
Sharing the same engine lineup with its Hatchback sibling Go plus MPV to get power from 1.2L three cylinder petrol engine giving maximum output of 67bhp@5000rpm and peak torque of 104Nm@4000rpm paired to a five speed manual gearbox and transmitting power to front wheels. This engine returns efficient mileage of 20.62KPL.
Datsun Go plus will be offered in four variants- D, D1, A and T comes with features like front power windows, mobile docking system, air conditioning, power steering, dual-tone dashboard, 13 inch wheels but no alloys not even as options, charging sockets but no music system.
As far as safety features are concerned Datsun Go plus MPV doesn’t have features like airbags, ABS not even as optional equipments. In the safety prone era Datsun should really consider this point very seriously especially after the failure of Go hatchback in the recent NCAP crash test and asked to discontinue it from India by NCAP.
According to Datsun India the Go+ MPV will open a new segment in the Indian auto industry. The company is hopeful of its success in India as it will be the only car in the mass segment which will offer 7 seats. Over 70% cars sold are in the under Rs 5.5 lakh segment. This means, Go+ will be the only MPV in the most competitive segment, giving it an edge over competitors
