Mini had unveiled its Countryman at Auto Expo 2018 and is all set to bring the car on Indian roads. This second generation Mini is longer and wider than its predecessor. The Mini Countryman shares the platform with the BMW X1 crossover. It is been called the most versatile car ever launched by MINI up till now and its previous model is said to be its only variant to be assembled in India. The car comes in two models: S, and SD John Cooper Works. Here is more about the latest car launching soon in India.
Exterior and Interior
The new Mini Countryman is 200mm longer, 30mm wider and has an extra wheelbase of 75mm over the outgoing model. The car retains its signature design elements such as bug eye-shaped headlamps and a bonnet scoop. The vehicle’s sporty instrument cluster features a semi-digital display and a centre console that has an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with Harmon Kardon audio unit. It will have keyless entry, a panoramic glass roof, rear-view camera and rear parking sensors with a 6.5-inch infotainment system and sliding rear seats.
Engine Details
Mini is offering the Countryman with two engine options. The Countryman S will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 192PS of power and 280Nm of torque. The Countryman SD will have a 2.0-litre diesel motor with 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. Both these engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. The vehicle also gets an ALL4 all-wheel-drive system.
Price
The Mini Countryman is expected to come to India by the end of this year with a price tag between 35-40 lakh INR.
